Hunt House

History

The Hunt House was built between 1921 and 1922 by John Walters.

Mrs. Inez Hunt, a widow, donated her home and property to the Murrieta Valley Town Hall Association in 1956. She wanted her property to go to the children of Murrieta so that they had a place to play. She dedicated it in memory of her son, Millard Russell, a World War I veteran. The Hunt House served as Town Hall until the City of Murrieta was incorporated in 1991. Many clubs and civic organizations gathered here for meetings and social events. Now the Hunt House is the Murrieta Museum.

Hunt Memorial Park is named in honor of Mrs. Hunt and is a reminder of her generous gift to the community.
